Quay

Your own website

Put a checkout link on the site you already have.

You do not move the whole site onto Quay. The product screen gives you a public URL and an HTML button. Paste either one into the page, the newsletter, or the bio link you already use.

What stays on your site

The essay, the menu, and the design stay where they are. Quay is the product page, the Stripe Checkout, and the download email. You can send people to the hosted product page, or you can keep them on your page and let the button open checkout.

There is no theme to pick. The hosted page is a title, a description, a price, and a buy button.

The fee on a sale from your site

A buyer who pays on your link does not pay Etsy’s $0.20 listing fee or 6.5% transaction fee. Those rates are from Etsy’s fees policy read 8 Oct 2026, and they still apply to any order that checks out on Etsy. US processing of 3% plus $0.25 is from the processing article read the same day.

The Quay sale pays Harbor’s application fee, or Studio if you subscribe, plus Stripe’s processing on the connected account. Gumroad’s direct fee, read 28 Sep 2026, is 10% plus $0.50, which is a different bill. The pricing page has the live Harbor and Studio numbers.

From signup to the button

Create the account, name the store, connect Stripe, and publish one product with the file attached. The product screen then shows the link and the button. Until Stripe marks card payments active, a paid buyer cannot finish checkout.

The sample shop is the layout with the buy button replaced by a signup link. It is not a customer and it does not take payment.

Questions

Do I have to use Quay’s hosted page?

No. Paste the HTML button into your own page. The hosted URL is there when you want to send the link by itself.

Does the website need to be on the same domain as Quay?

No. The button points at your Quay product. Quay does not offer custom domains in this version. The store URL stays on this site.

What Harbor costs: no monthly fee. Quay keeps 5% of each paid order ($1.00 on a $20.00 sale), plus Stripe's own processing fee on your account.
