Quay

Gumroad alternative

A Gumroad alternative that pays your Stripe account, not a marketplace balance.

Gumroad’s pricing page publishes 10% plus $0.50 on a direct sale and 30% when a new customer buys through Discover. There is no monthly fee. Quay also skips a monthly fee on Harbor, then keeps a smaller application fee on a charge that already belongs to you.

What their pricing page says

Read 28 Sep 2026, gumroad.com/pricing titles the page “10% + 50¢ direct, 30% via Discover.” Direct means a sale through your profile or your own link. Discover is their marketplace. Since 1 January 2025 Gumroad says it is merchant of record and handles sales tax collection and remittance.

Quay is not a marketplace and not the merchant of record. There is no Discover fee because there is no Quay marketplace. Quay does not calculate or remit sales tax or EU VAT. That work stays with you and with Stripe.

What you get instead

A hosted store, a product page, a checkout link, and an HTML button. Delivery is an emailed link with an expiry and a download cap. License keys, discount codes, a simple affiliate program, order history, and refunds are included on both plans.

The fee callout on this page uses Gumroad’s published direct rate and Quay’s configured Harbor rate on the same price. Card processing is not included in either number.

When Gumroad is the better fit

Stay if you want their audience, their merchant-of-record tax handling, or PayPal payouts. Quay is the tool for a seller who already has a place to send people and wants the charge on their own Stripe account.
