Quay

Payhip alternative

A Payhip alternative when you want the charge on your Stripe account.

Payhip’s pricing page, read 8 Oct 2026, is 5% on the free plan, $29 plus 2% on Plus, and $99 with no Payhip fee on Pro. Quay’s Harbor percent and Studio price are configured on this server and printed on the pricing page.

The published Payhip bill

Free is 5% and no monthly fee. Plus is $29 a month plus 2%. Pro is $99 a month and no Payhip transaction fee. Their page says PayPal and Stripe still charge their own rates on every plan, and that EU VAT and UK VAT can be handled by Payhip.

Quay does not add a second set of feature gates either: Harbor and Studio include the same products. The difference is the fee. Quay does not file EU VAT or UK VAT. If that filing is why you pay Payhip, stay there.

What you get on Quay

A store page, a product link, an HTML button, and delivery by email with an expiry and a download cap. License keys, discount codes, a simple affiliate program, and refunds that revoke access are included. There is no PayPal. Payouts are Stripe’s, because checkout is a direct charge on the connected account.

Quay does not import a Payhip catalog. Export your files and customer list, recreate each product, and swap the buy link.

Only if this server’s Harbor fee is set to 5%. That is the published default until an operator changes QUAY_FREE_PLAN_FEE_BPS. The pricing page shows the live percent. Payhip’s 5% is their public free-plan rate as of 8 Oct 2026.

Does Quay collect EU VAT the way Payhip describes?

No. You are merchant of record on a direct Stripe charge. Quay does not calculate or remit VAT.
