Does the buyer need a Canva account?
Only if the file you uploaded is a Canva share link or a format Canva opens. Quay delivers the file. It does not create a Canva account or check whether the buyer has one.
Canva templates on your site
Put a Canva template on your own site as a file, not a Canva login.
Quay is not affiliated with Canva and does not connect to a Canva account. You export the template, upload that file, and paste a checkout link or an HTML button into the site you already have.
What you actually upload
Export a PDF, a PNG, or a zip of the template and a one-page instruction sheet. That file is what Quay stores privately and emails as a download page after payment. A Canva share URL pasted into a text file can still be forwarded. The expiry limits the download page, not Canva’s own sharing.
There is no button that duplicates the design into the buyer’s Canva account. Editing happens in their tools, after they download what you uploaded.
Put the button on your site
The product screen gives you a public URL and an HTML button. Paste the button into a page, a newsletter, or a bio link. You do not move the rest of your site onto Quay, and you do not pick a theme. The hosted product page is there when you want to send the link by itself.
Each file stops at 20 MB. A matching set of templates can be separate products and then a bundle at one price.
Fees if the template also sits on Etsy
Etsy’s fees policy, read 8 Oct 2026, is $0.20 to list and 6.5% when it sells, plus payment processing. US Etsy Payments is 3% plus $0.25. The calculator totals those for a price and a sales count. Offsite Ads are not in that math.
A sale on your own site does not pay that listing fee. It pays Harbor’s application fee, or Studio’s month, plus Stripe’s processing on your connected account. The Quay amounts are on the pricing page. You bring the buyer. Quay will not rank the template in a gallery.

Can I sell a commercial-use license with the template?
You can say so in the description. If you also want a code issued with the order, use a license product. Quay does not police what the buyer does with the file after download.
