Sell an online course

Sell an online course as files that open on a schedule.

A course on Quay is a membership or a bundle of files, not a video classroom. Buyers pay on your Stripe account. Lesson files can stay closed until a number of days after purchase.

What a course is here

Upload the lessons as files on a membership product. Each drip item can name a number of days after purchase before it opens. Canceling the subscription closes that access. A one-time bundle is the other shape: every file is delivered together, with no schedule.

There is no lesson player. Quay does not stream video of any length, and each file has to be 20 MB or smaller. If the course is a long video, host that file somewhere else or split it. The page you sell is still the checkout and the delivery email.

How students pay and come back

A membership uses a recurring Stripe price on your connected account, monthly or yearly. It checks out on its own, not inside a mixed cart. The buyer’s email receives the download page. Later visits can use the library link for that email.

A refund from the order cancels the subscription when the order is a membership, revokes the download, and emails the buyer. A cancellation that starts in Stripe does the same revocation when the webhook arrives.

Pricing for the teacher, not the student

Your students pay the price you set. You pay Quay separately: Harbor’s application fee on the charge, or Studio’s monthly plan. Those amounts are on the pricing page. Stripe’s processing fee is billed to your connected account.

Discount codes work on the course if you want a launch price. An affiliate cookie lasts 30 days. Quay does not host a student community or a quiz.

Questions

Can students watch lessons in the browser?

No. They download the files you uploaded, after the drip day you set. Quay does not stream audio or video.

Can I drip a worksheet a week later?

Yes. A membership file can open a set number of days after purchase. It closes if the subscription ends or you refund the order.
