Quay

Sell fonts online

Sell a font as a zip, and say what the license allows.

A font on Quay is the file you upload. The public page is your description, your price, and a checkout link. There is no font specimen marketplace and no install button inside a design app.

Upload the files and the license

Zip the desktop fonts, the web fonts, or both, and write the license in the product description: personal use, commercial use, or the limits you actually offer. Quay stores that text. It does not enforce it after the download.

Each file has to be 20 MB or smaller. If you want a code your own site can check, use a license product. One key leaves with each order. POST /api/v1/licenses/validate reports whether that key is still good. A refund marks it revoked.

A page you can link, not a foundry directory

Publish the product and copy the URL or the HTML button into your specimen page. Buyers who already have the specimen page do not need a second marketplace account. Quay will not rank the font next to other sellers.

A family with several styles can be one zip or a bundle of products you listed separately. Pay-what-you-want can set a minimum instead of one price. Amounts from $0.01 through $0.49 are rejected.

Listing fees if the font is also on Etsy

Etsy’s fees policy, read 8 Oct 2026, charges $0.20 to list a font on Etsy.com and 6.5% when that listing sells, plus payment processing. US processing is 3% plus $0.25. The calculator is the same math for a font price as for any other digital price.

Harbor does not charge $0.20 to publish. The application fee is a percent of the paid total, shown on the pricing page. Stripe bills processing separately. If you need Etsy’s audience, the Etsy fees stay on the sales that happen there.

Questions

Does Quay stop a buyer from sharing the font file?

No. The controls are the link expiry, the download count, and a refund that revokes the link and any key you issued. The font file itself is not locked.

Can I sell a webfont license and a desktop license separately?

Yes. Make two products, describe each license, and optionally sell them together as a bundle. Quay does not generate a webfont kit.
