Quay vs SendOwl when the link should run out.
SendOwl’s help center says that after payment the buyer lands on a download page showing how many downloads or how much time remain. In this billing mode Quay does not host that page for the pasted checkout. The price difference is the sales cap SendOwl publishes and the month Quay charges.
What the buyer sees
SendOwl can turn the time limit off. A download count still applies on current SendOwl plans, using a value the seller picks. Quay always sets an expiry. The seller chooses the hours and the count, and a product can only make that window stricter.
In this billing mode the buy button leaves Quay. The receipt described below is for an order Quay itself checked out. A pasted Stripe Payment Link, PayPal, Gumroad, or Square link does not create that receipt.
A new store’s download link lasts 72 hours and allows 5 downloads, unless the store or the product sets a stricter cap. Each file save counts as one download. The seller can resend or reset the link from the order. A refund revokes the link and any license key. Files have to be 20 MB or smaller.
The published SendOwl bill
SendOwl’s pricing page, read 28 Sep 2026, starts with Launch at $39.00 a month. That plan has a yearly sales cap. Higher plans cost more when sales cross the cap. The comparison table on this site uses those published prices.
On this server Studio is $29.00 a month. You keep the sale and collect it on your own checkout link. Quay does not add a percent, and Quay does not email a file for that outside payment.
Quay does not store a yearly sales cap. Studio is a month, and Quay does not take a percent of the sale. This mode does not deliver the file, so it does not meter bandwidth.
Why a seller would pick Quay
Pick Quay when you want $29.00 a month for a public page and you already deliver the file in the checkout you paste. SendOwl would still host the download. This mode of Quay will not.
SendOwl can redirect every buyer to a page you host and still email the download. Quay does not offer that redirect. The receipt is the thank-you page, and the files are on it.
When SendOwl is the better fit
Stay if you need the time limit switched off, a download-all zip, or the download screen overlaid on a domain you already run. Quay’s store is a slug on this site. Custom domains are not built.
