After someone pays, the next step is the file.
Two different people can pay on Quay. A seller pays for the Studio plan and returns to settings. A buyer pays a seller for a file. This page is about the buyer.
Who the buyer is
The buyer is the person who typed an email on the cart and paid. They do not get a seller login, a store, or a product list of their own. People who sell digital products are sellers. A seller pays Quay only by subscribing to Studio, and that payment returns to the settings screen with one next step: publish a product, or open the store if a product is already published.
In this billing mode the buy button leaves Quay. The receipt described below is for an order Quay itself checked out. A pasted Stripe Payment Link, PayPal, Gumroad, or Square link does not create that receipt.
The receipt
When the order is paid, the receipt names what they bought and puts a download button above the email. License keys from that order are on the receipt too. If Stripe has not confirmed the charge yet, the page says so and asks for a refresh. It does not pretend the files are ready.
The email is the copy they can open later. If mail is not configured on the server, that letter is written to the server log instead of a mailbox. The button on the receipt still works.
A new store’s download link lasts 72 hours and allows 5 downloads, unless the store or the product sets a stricter cap. Each file save counts as one download. The seller can resend or reset the link from the order. A refund revokes the link and any license key. Files have to be 20 MB or smaller.
Coming back later
The library asks for the same email and sends a link that lasts one hour. It lists paid orders. It opens a download only while that link is still inside its time and count. It cannot mint a new one. The seller resets a used-up link from the order page.
A membership file stays locked unless the subscription is active or trialing. Drip notes open a set number of days after payment, and they still sit behind the same expiring download link. Canceling or refunding closes access. The buyer has no page of their own for canceling a membership. The seller does that from Stripe or from a refund.
